Santa and Princess Sophia

                                                                         "Santa and Princess Sophia"

Santa is a one of a kind Original Gourd character created by me Penny Grotz Streit. Santa is painted on a thick shelled gourd. He is painted as a visual story. Santa holds a Chihuahua princes Sophia and a poinsetta garland in his left hand and arm. Santa holds a doll and and lantern in his other hand. He has an ornery elf peeking out of his hood on the back.(probably afraid Santa will put him to work).I placed some paper mache at the top of his hat for a ball. He has brush stroke decoration on the sleeves and middle edges of his coat for added interest. The Chihuahua is painted after my own precious Sophia and if you have ever been owned by a Chihuahua you understand they go by Princess or Prince as you are merely here only to serve them.

He is large and measures12" tall by 7" across with a 7" depth.

This guy would look so sweet sitting on a sideboard, mantel or table in a Christmas vignette. Santa has been painted in rich hues using various painting techniques to bring out depth and eye catching features. He is sure to become a family heirloom. Santa is a one of a kind Original Gourd character created by me Penny Grotz Streit. Santa is painted on a thick shelled gourd. He is painted as a visual story. Santa holds a basket with his best friend a West Highland Terrier named Snowball. Santa holds a doll and Christmas wreath in his hands. There is a Christmas tree and presents painted on his back. I placed some paper mache at the top of his hat for a ball. This protects the stem of the gourd which was left exposed to remind the viewer of his earthly beginnings. 
This guy would look so sweet sitting on a sideboard, mantel or table in a Christmas vignette. Santa has been painted in rich hues using various painting techniques to bring out depth and eye catching features. He is sure to become a family heirloom.

Halloween Pumpkin Candy Container "Claude Gourdans"

Claude  is a one of a kind Halloween folk art candy container , painted and created by me. His head is a gourd attached to a paper mache box that can hold candy or other treasures.  Claude is painted in colors of burnt orange, soft black and vintage white. 

  Claude  has a crepe paper color and various Halloween scenes painted on each side of the box. An owl, witch, skeleton and pumpkins. 

Claude measures 11 1/2 " tall by 6 " across. Claude will come artist signed and dated with a 1/1 indicating he is a one of a kind and will not be recreated. He has been faux antiqued with a umber wash. Claude has several coats of sealer applied for protection

Ms. Corine Demise

    Corine Demise
Ms. Corine Demise is a one of a kind folk art Goth, Day of the Dead or De Los Muertos, skeleton or Voo Doo Doll. She wiles away the day hanging out with her gruesome little buddies in the CREEP SHOW. As you can see in the one photo she tends to crawl out of her cubby at night and roam the house. The colors to this piece are black, white and red.
Corine was created by me from muslin and then hand painted. She comes with the shadow box that was also created by me. The little crying heart, odd little bird man were also created by me from paper clay. The Shadow box is decorated in fun papers, trims and vintage laceCorine stands 13" tall by 2.75" across. The shadow box measures 15" tall by 7.5" across. The bats are included and will add and additional 6" to the piece. The flying bats and doll can be removed. The other items are permanently glued in place. Myrtle Spellman A Lovely Witch

Myrtle is a one of a kind folk art piece hand sculpted, painted and created by me. She has a hang tag of a cat and a jack o lantern pumpkin guy I made hanging on a wire around the jar. She has a glitzy hat band embellished with a black and orange rose and two hat pins. One is a skeleton head and the other hat pin is a pumpkin.

Myrtle is an exception in the local witch society. She is shunned by the local crones for her beautiful face and the great pride she takes in her appearance. If you look closely you can see she enhances her beauty with some rouge and lipstick. It is said she is half human and half witch. You can tell she has witch blood in her veins by the wart on her chin. 
Myrtle will arouse many senses in the viewer with all her textures, colors and glitzy detail. Myrtle boasts a quote around the entire bottom of the jar which states "Double, double toil and trouble, fire burn and cauldron bubble". 

Myrtle was created in colors of burnt orange, black and antique white.

"Chilly Winters" One of a kind Snowman candy container

Chilly Winters is an original candy container created by me from paper clay, glass jar, bits and pieces of this and that. He was hand painted and has a sweet toothy grin. Santa created for Bernita in Arizona

Below is a Santa I was commissioned to do for a sweet Lady in Arizona. I don't often do commissions due to various factors, but couldn't resist this offer as Bernita had lost her three little guys. Wildberry Zinger Iced Tea, Celestial Seasonings

Wildberry Zinger Tea (Iced)by celestial seasonings is sooooo goood! Very thirst quenching and refreshing. I put 3 tea bags in a cup of hot water and let it steep for a little while. pour it in a gallon container add about 1 1/2 Tablespoons of splenda or sugar. Kids can drink it too, no caffeine.

"Hattie Spellman"

She is one of those "Spellman sisters". They are known about town as quite the old cronies. Hattie has a huge crush on the Man in the Moon. He was less than enchanted so she actually plucked him right out of the sky and forced him to take her to the Halloween Ball. Hattie's constant companions Thadeus Toad and Sylvia the spider are also attending the Ball. 

This is an original one of a kind Witch gourd created by me Penny Grotz Streit. Hattie is painted in colors of burnt orange, vintage white and soft black. Her hat is decorated with sunflowers, cobwebs and a spider. She has pumpkins or jack o lanterns surrounding her body with a toad painted on one. I did add some clay to the bottom of the gourd so she would stand upright and stable.  Hattie  measures 9 " tall and 4 " across. She was given a faux vintage or antique look with an umber wash.  She has been artist signed and dated by me with a 1/1 indicating he is a one of a kind and will not be recreated. She has been coated with polyurethane for lasting years of beauty.
